Beatriz Alicia Riojas, 84, of East Moline, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Beatriz was born on April 28, 1941, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Manuel and Herlinda (Cruz) Alaniz. Beatriz graduated from Martin High School in Laredo, Texas, and was a member of the National Honor Society. She married Juan Riojas on September 13, 1959, in Laredo, Texas; he preceded her in passing. Beatriz retired from John Deere Harvester as a Specifications Analyst. She was an honorary ROTC sponsor. Beatriz and Juan were avid Tejano music fans. They regularly attended Tejano Music Award Shows in San Antonio and Las Vegas. Those two could always be found together, traveling the country or going dancing.
Beatriz is survived by her son, Javier (Lydia) Riojas; grandchildren, Julio (Courtney) Riojas, Elias Riojas, Christopher (Ashley) Riojas, Brittany Willey, and Christian Turner; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Angela Rodriguez; and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Laura Riojas; two infant daughters, Elsa and Annabelle; great-granddaughter, Ryla Riojas; and siblings, Francisco Alaniz, Trinidad Martinez, Maria Trejo, Manuel Alaniz Jr., Dora Adame, and Jesus Alaniz.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, for their great care and compassion given to them and Beatriz.
