Sandra Bellinger Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Bellinger

October 14, 1935 - March 14, 2026

Sandra "Sandy" Bellinger, 90, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at Friendship Manor Silver Cross.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5th at Riverside United Methodist Church, 712 16th Street, Moline, IL, with burial to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Rock Island National Cemetery.

The Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (lower level), 701 12th Street, Moline, with live music and lunch for family and friends.

Sandy was born on October 14, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Dan and Bobbie (Stacy) Rose. She married the love of her life, Page Bellinger, in 1957, and together they built a life filled with love and teamwork.

A proud graduate of the University of Michigan, Sandy went on to earn her master's and doctorate degrees from Northern Illinois University. Nursing was her calling. She cared for patients in Michigan and later taught future nurses as a nursing instructor at Moline Public Hospital, the University of Iowa, and Trinity College of Nursing, where she eventually served as Dean. She also contributed nursing research and presentations on the healing power of humor and touch.

Sandy was a longtime member of Riverside United Methodist Church. She found comfort and strength in the faith that anchored her life.

She gave generously of her time-volunteering with church activities, Scouts, Brownies, PTA, the American Cancer Society, and Relay for Life. Sandy will be remembered for her bright smile, fun spirit, and her kind, generous heart.

In Sandy's own words, she offered these gentle lessons:

"Look at the positive side."

"See the best in people."

"Have compassion and show kindness."

"Serve others."

"Share a smile."

"Enjoy a good laugh."

Sandy is survived by her son, Todd and his wife, Jennifer and her sons, Anthony, Dominic, and Matthew; her daughter, Kara (Neal) Blanche; her grandson, Kyle (Laura Ponchick) Bellinger; granddaughter, Kiana (Sean) Dickson; great-granddaughter, Olivia Dickson; nephew, Bruce (Sandy) Schrock; niece, Marcia Collins; and many beloved relatives and friends. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Page; her son, Brad; her brother, Dan Rose; and other cherished family members.

Her family is deeply grateful to the staff of Friendship Manor Silver Cross for the loving care given to both Sandy and Page.

Memorials may be made to the Page and Sandra Bellinger Scholarship with the Moline Community Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or Riverside United Methodist Church.

Kara and family,

For 30 years your mother blessed me as her second daughter. She and your father have taught me so much in life. Both of them gave unconditional love freely. Talk about the humor too!

Your kindness and goodness comes naturally with having parents like yours. For so many you are that beacon of light that shines hope. Your mother, too, illuminated the world and made it a better place. I will miss Sandy, just like I miss Page. I can´t imagine ever meeting such fine people again.

Your mother gave me a plaque that said, "Some people come in our lives for a little while, but others stay forever." I am so glad your parents and you have stayed forever.

Kara, I know the loss of your mother will radically change your life. You have been the model daughter who has given everything of herself - countless hours helping or just sharing love and laughter, ensuring they were healthy and taking them to doctors´ appointments, managing medicines, endless trips across the bridge, and so much more. At times, it must´ve been difficult; however, you never complained. Your
With each new sunrise, you meet it with with your smiles, kindness, compassion and never-ending love. (Talk about a mini me Sandy ) I know daily they thanked God for the blessing - you - God bestowed upon them.

Stay strong. You can handle all things to come. You know my heart will always be with you. I´m so sorry I´m so far away and can´t be there. I´m only a phone call away. We Detective B´s stick together.

Thanks for sharing your parents with me. Always will live in my heart and give me a smile each time I think of them.

Love you always,
Karen

Sandy was a lovely, delightful lady.
She always had a smile for everyone and a positive outlook. Heaven gains an angel as she reunites with Page
