Doris J. Drummond, 79, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday March 24, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Services will be 11:00am Saturday April 4, 2026 at Grace City Church, Rock Island with visitation from 10:00am to service time. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 4:00-6:00pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be Monday April 6, 2026 in Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside can meet at the funeral home at 9:30am. Memorials may be left in her name to Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Doris was born on April 29, 1946 in Noxubee County, Mississippi, the daughter of Daniel and Callie(Stennis) Parks. She married James D. Drummond on September 5, 1965 in Mississippi.
Doris had worked at Brammers Cabinets, Davenport for 25 years as a cabinet maker.
She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she also enjoyed traveling and shopping.
Survivors include her husband, James, Rock Island; sons, Dennis Yvonne Brooks) Drummond, Davenport, Fredrick Drummond, Rock Island; grandchildren, Shawntel, Fredrick Jr., Le'Quan, Ebony, Tiana, Kendrick, Candice McCoy; 15 great grandchildren; brothers, Willie (Rochelle) Parks, Robert (Hilda) Parks; sister, Betty (Gene) Townsen; brother in law Freeman Dale; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Callie; son, Anthony Drummond; brothers, Fred Parks, Daniel Parks, Charlie Parks; sisters, Jackie Coleman and Lucy Dale.
