We are heartbroken to announce that Bertha Cooper Watts, a beloved member of our community, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at Peak Resources in Gastonia, NC. Bertha, born on March 16, 1942, was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of everyone around her with her kindness and warmth.
As a dedicated member of the North Gaston Church of God in Dallas, NC, Bertha loved her family and church family like no other. She had a servant's heart and truly valued every connection, never meeting a stranger. Her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Bertha has been reunited with her parents, Herman and Cannie Cooper; her husband, David Emmett Watts; her son, David Joel Watts; and her siblings, Robert, Wade, Johnny, Margie, Etta Mae, and Jeanette.
She is survived by her son, Jack Watts (Ann); daughters, Deborah Yarbrough (Dale) and Denise Duncan (Jeff); her brother, Clyde Cooper; sisters, Dot Cochran (Ueastes), Ruth Patterson, and Margaret Jenkins; and her cherished grandchildren, Michael Yarbrough (Amanda), Hannah Gillreath (Patrick), Luke Watts (Grace), Madeline Walker (Dontavis), Shelby Grindstaff (Justin), and Mariah Wilson (Jacob Harden).
Family and friends are invited to gather for a funeral service at the North Gaston Church of God on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will take place one hour before the service, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, also at the church. Following the service, Bertha will be laid to rest at Hollywood Cemetery.
We invite you to share your memories and condolences at www.greenefuneral.com as we celebrate the beautiful life of Bertha Cooper Watts. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
