Bertie Fay Gandy

Bertie Fay Gandy, age 95, of Temple passed from this life during the morning hours of Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at her home. She was born on the 28th day of April 1928 in Hamilton, TX to parents Pete Columbus and Maggie (Barron) Helbert.
Bertie has been a resident of Temple since 1949. In her younger years she graduated from Evant High School. Bertie married the love of her life Nick W. Gandy Jr. in Buckholts on April 9th, 1949. The couple went on to build a home and life together which included four children. Bertie worked for the City Recreation and the Little League Baseball association for most of her life. She attended worship at the East Side Baptist Church. Bertie will be deeply missed by many friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Nick W. Gandy Jr., parents, and son Glen Gandy.
Bertie leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Nicky Gandy and wife Becky and Brad Gandy and wife Katharina, daughter Carol Gandy Estrada, as well as twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on Saturday, May 27th, 2023, at 1 p.m.
