Ms. Bertie Baker Lemonds, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Okeena Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born August 28, 1947 to the late Stephen and Flonnie Baker. Bertie was a retired housekeeper, of 16 years, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital. She was a loving woman who spread joy to everyone she met. She faithfully attended Emmaus Baptist Church, near Newbern, every Sunday and Wednesday until sickness overtook her. She loved everyone and would give you her last bite of food if you were hungry or the shirt off her back if you needed it. She was a kind soul, spirit, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, greatly loved as "Nanny & MeMaw".
Funeral services for Ms. Bertie Lemonds will be held in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. and interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
She leaves to treasure her memory a daughter, Carolyn Johnson, of Dyersburg, her siblings Mary Jane Baker, of Memphis, Johnny Baker, of Hawkpoint, MI and Ruby Williams of Savannah, TN, her grandchildren Michael Pilkington of Covington, TN, Ashley Bennett of Dyersburg, Justin Connell and Destiny Ballard of Covington, TN, and a step-grandson, Steven Lemonds, her great-grandchildren, Eli Jacob Uramkin, of Dyersburg, Liam Jace and Laiken Elise Pilkington of Ripley, Saphira Ann Bennett of Dyersburg and was excited to welcome another great-grandchild soon. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Allen Talmadge Lemonds of Ridgley, TN, a daughter, Martha Ballard, of Dyersburg and step-son Stevie Lemonds, her siblings Irene Westmoreland of Dyersburg, Loretta Ferguson of Union City, Evelyn Spence, Buddy Baker and Merdie Baker, all of Ridgely and Lonnie Baker, of Dyersburg.
