Bertie Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burnside Funeral Home on Mar. 28, 2024.
Bertie Elizabeth "Libby" Moore, 95, of Fairmont and formerly of Shinnston, passed away Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Enterprise on May 8, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Pearl (Costello) Ford. Kind care was being provided by Alicia Austin and WVU Hospice during her final weeks.
Libby was preceded in death by Brady Joseph "Joe" Moore, her loving husband of 59 ½ years and devoted father to their four children, on July 12, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Dennis "Rod" Moore (Leigh Ann) of Fairmont, Brady "Joey" Moore, Jr. (Lisa) of Fairmont, and Linda K. Henline (Greg) of Fairmont; her grandchildren, James Bosnick III (Mary) of Missouri, Kristin Coldsnow (Travis) of Morgantown, and B.J. Moore III (Becki) of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Layla, James, Lincoln, Brady, and Julia; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Lynn Moore; a grandson, Shawn Michael Bosnick; her three brothers, Watson Ford (Maxine); Frank Ford (Ellen); Charles F. Ford, Jr.; and her sister, Alma R. Ford.
Her first job was at the C & P Telephone office, which she loved working at until she quit to start her family. Then she and her husband founded a welding and mine car repair company, "Libby Construction Co.", which thrived for 42 years. He did the shop work and she did the office work.
Libby and Joe loved to travel internationally to locations as far away as Germany, England, Jerusalem, China, Italy, France, Cuba, Russia, Mongolia, Siberia, Greece and Canada, as well as visiting 25 states in their cross-country adventures.
They purchased a winter home in Palm Bay, Florida, which was enjoyed by them and their children. Libby enjoyed reading books, listening to audio books, playing scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, and making many homemade crafts.
She was a 41-year member of Eldora United Methodist Church, and a 52-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Fairmont Chapter #34.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Richards presiding.
