Bertie Mae Sanderson Watson, 97, of Albany, GA, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at Viva Senior Living at Albany, GA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Pollock and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was born on January 12, 1928 in Guin, AL to Argie and Lovie Bell Sanderson. She grew up in Colquitt County, GA and graduated from Doerun High School in 1945. She married John H. Watson in 1947 and moved to Albany, GA. Mrs. Watson was employed with Coats and Clark for 47 years, retiring as a Quality Control Manager.
Mrs. Watson was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Watson and her siblings, Jack Sanderson, Bernice Reynolds, Robbie Gunn and Redus Sanderson.
Survivors include her son, Charlie (Harriet) Watson of Worth County, GA, a daughter, Peggie Watson (Mike) Bullington of Lake Blackshear, GA, a sister, Beatrice Blackwell of Sylvester, GA, her grandchildren, Derek (Tori) Walton, Haley Middleburg and Lindsey Walton all of Ponte Vedra, Fl and her great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home.
