On December 28, 2022 at the age of 102, Bess Barnes Caudle received her angel wings.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2023 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. David Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
On November 28, 1920, Bess was born into the family of George Abbott Barnes and Essie Mae Williams Barnes in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. After graduating from high school, she came to Hopkinsville to work for her uncle at E.P. Barnes Brothers. She worked for First City Bank for 27 years and retired as the only female branch manager. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 80 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George Amos Caudle; her brothers: George William Barnes and Tim Barnes; and her sisters: Emmy Caudle, Dolly Martin and Essie Gene Barnes.
Survivors include her daughters: Susan Hooks of Louisville, KY and Margie Cortner of Princeton, KY; her grandchildren: Chris (Michelle) Hooks and Brad (Kristi) Hooks both of Lexington, KY, Kelly (Casey) Newsom of Princeton, KY, and Jessica (Jamie) Daniel of Eddyville, KY; eight great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Pennyroyal Hospice 220 Burley Ave., Hopkinsville, KY 42240 or the Kentucky Talking Book Library P.O. Box 537, Frankfort, KY 40602.
