Bessie Cabiness Almond Forgie passed away on Friday evening, July 15, 2022, in her home in Clifton Forge, VA. She was born in Charlotte County, VA to Sara Moore Cabiness and William Eugene Cabiness on August 31, 1926.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Berkeley Cabiness; her sister, Ruth Franklin; her first husband and father of her children, Kenneth Dewitt Almond Sr.; and her husband, Ed Forgie. Her daughter, Pamela Almond Abshire also preceded her on February 22, 2018.
She was a devoted member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church where she spent many hours volunteering her time and enjoying the fellowship.
She is survived by her brother, Albert Maxey; and her children, Kenneth (Regina) Almond, Jimmy (Mona) Almond, and Cindy (Glenn) Abbott. She also leaves 7 grandchildren, Jeni Spraker, Eddie Wilbourne, Christopher Almond, Travis Odom, Josh Almond, Jessica Almond, and Dustin Almond, and 13 great-grandchildren.
We were truly blessed to have her with us for almost 96 years and she was so thankful to be able to be in her home. A loving thank you to her daughter, Cindy for being by her side these last few months. We would also like to thank her physician, Kassie Hall, and Amedisys Hospice.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11 am at Clifton Forge Baptist Church (511 McCormick Blvd Clifton Forge, VA).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the church are appreciated.
