On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, Bessie Fletcher, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at the age of 79.
Bessie was born on May 22, 1944 to George and Violet Alldridge, the youngest of 4 siblings. She graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield Oregon. On September 24, 1962 Bessie married her junior high sweetheart Rick Fletcher in a small celebration. They spent their honeymoon at the World's Fair in Seattle when the Space Needle and the Seattle Center was new. They were married 50 years until Rick passed in November 2012. They raised two daughters, Delaina, born in 1965 and Michelle born in 1968.
They lived in Oregon for the first few years then relocated to Seattle when Rick was hired with the Boeing Company. Within just a few years Bessie took a job at Boeing where she quickly advanced. She spent the majority of her career as a Personnel Manager in Human Resources.
Bessie was passionate about Christ, her family and photographs. She was also artistic and creative. She combined these traits in beautiful ways when she painstakingly chronicled seasons of life in scrapbooks., Bessie inherited her dad's green thumb and just "knew" what each plant needed to thrive. Bessie was an extraordinary seamstress. Initially she made Delaina and Michelle's clothes but she then she fine-tuned her skills with embroidery. She even started her own sewing business and made heirloom quality items for grateful clients.
Bessie was preceded in death by her father, George, her mother, Violet, her siblings, Jess, David and Charlotte. She is survived by her daughters, Delaina and Michelle, grandchildren Shawn, Jessica, Crystal, Amanda, cousins, nieces and nephews.
