Mrs. Bessie Houston, age 79, of Battle Creek, MI peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 in the comfort of her son, Dennis.

Bessie was born June 7, 1946 in Sunflower, Mississippi to proud parents, Inez and Walter McClinton.

Bessie gave her life to the Lord and became a member of Calvary Grace Baptist Church on June 25, 2024 under the leadership of Pastor Jean. Bessie enjoyed going to church.

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, Inez and Walter McClinton and siblings, Lorene Ware, Richard McClinton and Barbara Jean McClinton.

Bessie leaves to forever cherish her son, Dennis Ware; grandson, Devin Ware; granddaughter, Denise Ware; grandson, Lil Dennis Ware Jr. as well as Eugene Ware, Maria James McClinton, Karrie McClinton, Mary McClinton, Catherine McClinton, Bernice Carter, Ricky McClinton, Dione-Robert West, Betty Alexander, Walter McClinton, Carman McClinton and many nieces and nephews.

Although Bessie was departed from this life, she will always be in our hearts. She will be dearly missed. “Love you Big Sister.”

Bessie’s family will receive friends for visitation Saturday, September 6 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where a funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
