Bessie B. Marlatt, 95 was born January 2, 1930 in Underwood, Iowa to George and Emma (Rasmussen) O'Doniel. She left us on November 19, 2025. Bessie worked for Hallmark Cards in Topeka, KS in the 50's. She went to school and received her license from Kansas Board of Cosmetology in 1953. She married Eddie William Marlatt on May 28, 1954. A daughter, Susan was born in 1960 and son David was born in 1962. After Susan graduated, they moved to Salina, KS. She worked at Asbury Hospital now called Salina regional Hospital where she worked in Housekeeping and in the Labor and Delivery Department for over 20 years. She retired in 1994. She, her three sisters and their brother did everything together. They loved to walk, explore and fish. With the brother involved, they never knew what they would be doing next. Growing up in the Great Depression, they learned at a very young age the value of what little they had. Bessie is survived by her daughter, Susan Weberg, six grandchildren, Alysha Colborn, Brook Weberg, Chelsey Raab, Kelly Marlatt, Karly Marlatt and Tiffany McNutt and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David, her twin sister, Betty, sisters, Phyllis Jackson, Hope Riffel and brother, James.

Memorial Service for Bessie will be at 2:00 P.M., on Tuesday, November 25, at the First Christian Church, Abilene, KS. There will be a luncheon at the church at noon. Family will receive friends and family on Monday 24, from 5-7PM at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Abilene First Christian Church. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, Kansas 67410.
