Ms. Bessie Lee Nesbitt
Bessie Lee Nesbitt, 91, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Aiken, SC. Born July 29, 1934, in Newberry, SC, Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend whose life was marked by deep love for both her family and her Savior.
In 1953, at just 18, she married the love of her life, Robert, and together they shared 66 years of marriage filled with faith, laughter, and devotion. Though strong-willed, Bessie leaned on Robert’s partnership and always trusted Christ to guide her through life’s challenges.
Bessie joyfully served in many church roles throughout her life. A natural teacher, she encouraged young and old alike, passing down lessons in both life and faith. She was a gifted homemaker, sharing recipes, canning, and sewing techniques that will live on through her children and grandchildren.
Family was her greatest joy. As matriarch, she poured love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always ready to play, laugh, and cook for those she loved. She was full of humor and spirit, enjoyed a good laugh, and cheered faithfully for the Atlanta Braves.
Bessie is survived by her children: Margie Morse (Charlie), Sandra Siegler (Thomas), Pennie Adams (Philip), Sarah Gunter (Lee), and Randy Nesbitt (Renea); her sisters, Daisy Stuck and Luda Busby; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nesbitt; her daughter, Carolyn Nesbitt; parents, Floyd and Vera Brown; her sister, Shirley Sease; and her brother, Tommy Brown
