Bessie Osborn passed away in Pecos on Friday, October 4, 2024 peacefully in the presence of family. Bessie was born on September 28, 1934 in Lindsay, OK. to Carl Vandiver and Lizzie Corder. Her family moved frequently in her youth through Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Bessie graduated in 1953 at Pecos High School. She marries Charlie Osborn in 1954 and spent 51 years with Charlie until his death in 2005. They raised four children; Debra Thomas, Carl (Susie) Osborn of Pecos, Gail (Pail) Waddell and Lee (Evelyn) Osborn of Abilene area, plus her bonus son Jimmy Dale (Hammer) Melvin of Marfa. She had the honor of being the grandmother of 9 grandchildren; Brandie Minor, Richard Barmore, Amanda Miller, Randell Barmore, Kristi Diehl, Michelle Lowder, Clayton Osborn, Erica Avila, and Ramon Avila. She was also the great grandmother and great-great grandmother to many children. Bessie worked at Home Decorating and at that Extra Touch making draperies for 10 years then worked for Barmore Plumbing for 25+ years. Along the way she developed several passions. Girl Scouts was where she blossomed from a timid, quite person to a much stronger being. She left her mark on many young ladies in Pecos. She volunteered at the West of the Pecos Museum for many years sharing her wealth of Pecos and Toyah history. Her time at the museum formed stride while participating with the Windmill Square Players. Bessie was a seamstress and quiltmaker, just as was her mother, she gathered a group of like-minded gals together to share their talents with others and to socialize, creating a great group of friends. Bessie loved butterflies, flowers and traveling with family and friends. She was always read for a trip!

Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, one brother and a sweet great grand daughter.

Bessie is survived by her four children, brothers Walter and Gene Vandiver, and so many grandchildren and nieces and nephews that all loved her dearly.

Pallbearers will be Bessie's grandsons and great grandsons. Music will be provided by great grandson also.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Pecos Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Toyah Cemetery in Toyah, Texas.

Arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home.
