Our mother, beloved grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and sister passed away in Ogden, Utah on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at the age of 99.
Beth was born November 2, 1925, to Lorin E. Bachman and Reta Adams. She was the oldest of three children and blessed to have two siblings, Lareen and Kent. She was educated in the Ogden City schools where she was a member of the pep club and dancing group.
She married her high school sweetheart John S. McGibbon in 1945 while he was serving in the U.S. Coastguard in San Diego, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. John passed away on August 11th, 2002. She had three children, Michael (Helen) Downers Grove, Ill, John Scott (deceased) and Lori (Drew) Mitchell, Washington Terrace. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. During her senior year of school of high school, she worked for IBM in computer services at Utah General Depot. After her children were in school, she was recruited to work at the IRS and continued there for 28 years. She worked in many areas and retired as a Management Analyst.
One of her many passions was traveling the world with friends and family. She and John traveled on many cruises and enjoyed seeing foreign countries. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to Washington DC, Florida, California and Illinois. Beth enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events, dance and school events but her favorite activity was spending time with family at the cabin at South Fork, while she enjoyed the outdoors.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held many positions serving in the primary and was homemaking leader for 10 years. She loved attending the temple and made sure she had a current recommend up to the day she died.
She tapped dance for over 30 years with "The Entertainers" putting on programs for wards, senior center, schools and clubs. As a volunteer, she worked at McKay Dee Hospital with her daughter and mother. She also volunteered at Ogden Regional Hospital in the gift shop and single day surgery. She volunteered at the Golden Hours Center. She received several awards for the many hours served. She was a lifetime member of Beta-Sigma-Phi sorority and participated in many activities and made good friends.
She was a member of the American Businesswomen's and received the award of "Women of the Year" Beth spent her spare time creating. She loved to sew, do crafts, reading, gardening and doll making.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Scott, her sister and grandson, Brad.
We would like to thank the staff at Legacy House of Ogden and Utah Home Health and Hospice for the tender, loving care they gave to Beth.
