Betsy Ruth Davis, 95, of Indianapolis, died January 19, 2025. She was born January 25, 1929, in Youngstown, OH to the late George and Susan Roh (Piribek).
She was the only daughter of 4 children born after George’s immigration to the US in 1910 at age 16. Upon completing his divinity degree, George and Susan married and moved to Youngstown, serving the large Slovak community for the remainder of their lives. Sunday church gatherings with friends and neighbors shaped Betsy’s life of devoted service. She was valedictorian of her Cheney High School class and received a Bachelor of Nursing degree from Youngstown State. She married Richard Davis of Poland, OH on September 20, 1952, then worked as an RN at Methodist Hospital after they moved to Indianapolis. Betsy dearly loved her brothers, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.
Betsy was a long-time, active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by sons Richard Jr. (Virginia), Daniel (Karen), and David (Consuelo); eight grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jonathan, Carrie, Benjamin, Alyssa, Marissa, Glenn, and Kathryn; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard and her brothers Myron, William, and Milan.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Marquette Manor and Transitions Hospice for their tender loving care.
Friends may greet the family on January 25, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:30am at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 E Broad Ripple Avenue. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation.
Memorial donations in Betsy’s honor can be made out to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 526 E 52nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46205; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
