Bette Luckey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNeil's Funeral Service on Dec. 3, 2025.
Bette Annetta Luckey, age 88, of Mustang, passed away on December 2, 2025. She was born August 31, 1937, in McCamey, TX, to Jay Vernon and Minnie Elizabeth (Campbell) Davis. She was one of fourteen children. She graduated from McCamey High School. After high school, she was working in Midland as a singer on the radio and met a young DJ named Earl Luckey. The two fell in love and were married on March 2, 1957.
Later, Bette began working for the Texas Department of Public Safety. She worked there in various departments for 21 years as a secretary and administrative assistant.
In 2000, Bette moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her family before settling in Mustang in 2001.
Though not able to have her own children, Bette and Earl adopted two children, Brad and Annie. Bette and Earl later raised their grandchildren, Russell and Sonya. Bette was proud of the beautiful family that she and Earl created and all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Friday night high school football, college football, reading books, and playing cards before bed. She also took great pride in her yard and would hand weed her grass.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl; son, Brad Luckey; her great-granddaughter, Tiara; her parents; and her thirteen siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Annie Luckey; grandson Russell Flores and wife Kellie, granddaughter, Sonya Flores Knight and husband Leon; six grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Midland, TX where Bette will be laid to rest with her husband.
