Betty Ann Carter Sellers, a dedicated Registered Nurse who was instrumental in delivering thousands of babies throughout Georgia and Florida, passed away on May 30, 2024, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia. She will always be remembered for her remarkable career as an RN, including serving as the director of nursing for Jeff Davis County Hospital and later retiring from her role at Appling County Healthcare. Betty also shared her knowledge by teaching nursing school, leaving a lasting impact on countless individuals in the healthcare field.
Born on February 23, 1939, Betty graduated from Georgia Baptist College in 1959 with a RN degree, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to caring for others. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was deeply involved in her community and church. Betty was a cherished member of Midway Baptist Church, where she taught GA's and Ladies Sunday School, showcasing her devotion to both faith and education.
Described as a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother, Betty's nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. She truly embodied the role of caregiver in all aspects of her life. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Hal Thomas Sellers; her parents, Reverend Marvin, and Lillie Carter; and one sibling, Bobbie Ware.
Betty leaves behind a loving legacy carried on by her surviving family members. She is survived by her two children, Jason Sellers and Leigh Ann Hutcheson (Michael); six grandchildren: Lynsey Nicole Sellers, Jason Thomas Sellers, Matthew Hutcheson, Lilly Hutcheson, Darren Hutcheson, and Anna Hutcheson; one great grandchild, Ava Clair Hutcheson; as well as one sibling, Christine Crosby Jacobs.
A visitation will be held on June 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Nobles Funeral Home in Baxley.
The funeral service will take place on June 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Midway Baptist Church with Reverend Benji McReady and Reverend Wayne Williamson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Midway Church Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers are Jason Sellers, Jason Thomas Sellers, Darren Hutcheson, Paul Ware, Michael Ware, and Jimmy Crosby.
Honorary Pallbearers are the members of Midway Baptist Church and the staff of Lakeview Retirement Center.
