Betty Nell Warnock Brett, 90, of Dublin, GA, passed away on October 13, 2025, at her residence. She was born on November 29, 1934, in Montgomery County, GA. She graduated from Soperton High School in 1951 and received an associate degree from Brewton-Parker College in 1953. She was married to Harry Lamar Brett of
Alamo, GA, for 62 years. The family moved to Miami, FL, in 1960 while Mr. Brett served in the U.S. Marshall Service, returning to Alamo in 1969 to manage the family farm. Mrs. Brett became a licensed real estate broker and managed both Brett Reality in McRae, GA, and the family-owned Telfair-Wheeler Stockyard. The family moved to Hinesville, GA, in 1983 and operated a RE/MAX Real Estate franchise for many years. Mrs. Brett relocated to Dublin, GA, in 2000, where she managed a real estate and property rental business with her husband.
She was affectionately called Mrs. Betty by her friends. Mrs. Betty loved to fish, participate in church activities and bible study, cheer on the UGA Bulldogs every fall, and was a lifetime Atlanta Braves fan. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her faithful chihuahua, Sammi. She was especially proud of her family and the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was very active in the community and church and was a member of Alamo Baptist Church and Marie Baptist Church in Dublin, GA. She never met a stranger and was deeply loved by her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Brett was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Felton and Charlie Mae Warnock, sisters Edith Juannette Warnock and Margaret Warnock Mizell, and daughter Beth Marie Brett. She is survived by her children, Michael Brett (Dena) of Evans, GA, and Debra Horton of Chester, GA; grandchildren, Marvin (Mary) Horton of Chester and Kristi Wildes of Eastman, GA; six great-grandchildren, Brett Courson, Briley Courson, Matt Fordham, Marleigh Horton, Mason Horton, and Elizabeth Wildes; and siblings, James Warnock of Tarrytown, Bobby Warnock (Inez) of Soperton, Wyman Warnock (Cindy) of Snellville, and Melba Jenkins of Lawrenceville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Marie Baptist Church, 315 Marie Church Road, Dublin, GA, with the Reverend Bobby Hutto officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Alamo Memorial Cemetery in
Alamo, GA. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Joe Brett, Brett Courson, Briley Courson, Matt Fordham, Marvin Horton, and Mason Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Brett and Dave Thomas.
The family would like to thank caregiver Christine Holton and Remarkable Hospice of Dublin for their kindness and compassion.
