Of Weedville, formerly of Trafford and East Pittsburgh, age 89, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021.

Born the daughter of the late Theodore Nolen and the late Mae (Kelly) Nolen.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Caldarelli.

Loving mother of Joseph Caldarelli and Ernest Caldarelli.

Cherished grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 10.

Preceded in death by children, Robert (surviving spouse, Dee) Caldarelli and William Caldarelli; and her siblings, Hermine Gaylik, James E. Nolen, Jack Nolen, and Theodore Nolen.

Betty was born in the town of Trafford on November 23, 1931. She was a phenomenal athlete growing up. In her younger years, she swam for the YMCA in Wilmerding and competitively for the Abe Group in Pittsburgh, where she won an award for performance in the backstroke and freestyle. She also loved playing mushball, hunting, and fishing. Betty was a longtime member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Trafford. Most of all, Betty treasured her time as a homemaker, cooking for her family and tending to their every need.

Friends are welcome Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 700 Linden Avenue at Cable Avenue, East Pittsburgh (412-824-8800), where a Funeral Service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m.

Betty will be buried in William Penn Cemetery.
