Betty Faye Smith Cheek of Reidsville, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at Camp Springs Church on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Daryl Massey officiating. The burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 PM–8:00 P.M on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
Betty was born in Caswell County to the late Bessie and Harvey Smith. She graduated from Anderson Highschool. Betty was an extremely hard worker; she spent time working for Burlington Industries while also farming but she is best known for her work at Cheek and Son Garage. After retiring, she loved spending time fishing with her husband out of Triple S Marina in Atlantic Beach, NC. She enjoyed looking for seashells and working in her flowers. Most of all, she loved her family, especially all the grands and great grands. She will be dearly missed.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, James Larry Cheek and brothers, Jimmy Smith and Larry Elmo Smith.
She is survived by her children, Denise C. Johnson and husband, Wally, Debbie C. Pearson and husband, Craig and Mark Cheek and wife, Jennie; grandchildren, Chris Pearson and wife, Morgan, Nick Pearson and wife, Brittany, Lindsey Talbert and husband, Colton; Laura Johnson and Michael; great-grandchildren, Laikyn Pearson, Georgia Wade, Vivian Talbert, Walter Wade, Gunner Pearson; brother, Gary Smith and wife, Margie; sister, Diane Day and husband, Barry; sister-in-law, Jane Smith; brother-in-law, Gene Cheek as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
The family would like to offer special thanks to their mother’s caregivers, Brenda, Megan, and Kim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the hospice of Rockingham County at PO BOX 284 Wentworth, NC 27375.
