Betty J. Davidsmeier, 93, of Virginia, IL, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at Cass County Senior Living and Rehabilitation.
She was born March 4, 1932, the daughter of Lesler Lee Bell and Beulah (Smith) Bell. She married Melvin Eugene "Butch" Davidsmeier on February 11, 1955, at Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia, and he preceded her in death in 2017.
She is survived by her children, Daniel (Jo) Davidsmeier of Petersburg, and Janet (Michael) Bentley of Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Adam (Kaitlyn) Bentley and their two children, Ashlynn and Beau Bentley of Virginia; two step-grandsons, Jared Woodrum and his children, Lane and Kylah of Petersburg, and Jason Woodrum and his son, Dwight of Petersburg; her sister, Joann Sudbrink (deceased husband Ed) of Virginia; and brother, Ronnie (Shirley) Bell. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Marilyn Harrison (surviving husband Jim of Bushnell).
Betty was a 1950 graduate of Virginia High School, after school she worked for the Virginia Gazette and then the Farm Bureau Insurance Corporation. She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia. She volunteered at Bread of Love and Walker Nursing Home (now Cass County Senior Living and Rehabilitation). Betty was a good cook, but an even better baker. She enjoyed painting ceramics; she was both creative and meticulous in everything she did. Betty also enjoyed birds and working in her yard.
Cremation rites have been administered. There will be a memorial service February 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 1pm until the time of service. Burial will follow after the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church or Cass County Senior Living and Rehabilitation Activity Fund. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of arrangements. So sorry for your loss. I did your mothers hair for over 25 yrs. I always remember the vegetables and baked things she brought me.
