Betty Duggan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Dec. 30, 2025.
Betty Jane Duggan (Selvaggi), age 96, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025.
Betty was born on May 5, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she began a life marked by determination, devotion, and unmistakable spirit. A woman of deep faith, Betty lived with conviction, heart, and a strength that could be both comforting and formidable. Her convictions guided her choices, grounded her through life's challenges, and fueled the fierce love she had for her family and friends. She showed her care not only through kindness, but also through her opinions, her passion, and her unwavering presence in the lives of those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Selvaggi, and her mother, Grace Selvaggi. She is survived by her brother, Jack Selvaggi, and his wife Sandy.
Betty was a devoted and loving mother to Jack Duggan (Denise), Pat Duggan (Sandy), Tim Duggan (Tracey), Linda Hanson, Nancy Dennison (Charlie Wiggs), Mary Kranzberg, and Peggy Duggan.
She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Duggan (Chrissy), Brad Duggan (Jill), Joe Dennison (Gabi), Thomas Duggan (Allana Paschal), Matt Hanson, Grace Moore (Brett), Daniel Dennison, Tony Kranzberg (Charlize Cole), Kimberly Duggan, Nick Duggan, Lauren Duggan, Maddison Kranzberg, Jack Duggan, TJ Duggan, Maggie Duggan, Andrea Schilp, and David Schilp.
Betty was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren and one more on the way, James, Lily, Blake, Brock, Vivian, Savannah, Scarlett, Sebastian, Levi, Luke, Holly, and Camille, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Known as a loving sister, mother, cousin, aunt, grandmother and friend, Betty cherished nothing more than time spent surrounded by family and friends. Whether gathered around the table for a shared meal or engaged in a lively card game, she created moments that became lasting memories and family traditions.
She had a passion for business, a love of shopping, and was especially famous for her homemade cookies, always baked with care and shared generously as an expression of her love. Her spirited debates, quick wit, and strong convictions were part of what made her so unforgettable.
Betty's kindness, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will remain her enduring legacy, carried forward by the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Betty during visitation at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral Home, located at 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri, on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Formidable was exactly the best way to describe Aunt Betty! When she was in your corner you could be sure success would follow, as demonstrated by her amazing 7 children and their equally amazing grandchildren, an so on.
Betty helped me personally through some challenges early on, I am forever grateful for her guidance and advocacy.
Her lifelong friendships are a testament to her loyalty to those she bestowed it upon, and was a blessing to experience.
Love and Peace to Betty and all my family.
