Anna Hayes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Mar. 19, 2026.
Anna Marie Hayes (nee Auer), 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, James Richard Hayes; her parents, Bernard and Anna Auer; and her siblings, Frank Auer, Sister Pat Auer, and Peggy Hinrichs.

Anna was a cherished mother to Matthew (Jennifer) Hayes, Mark (the late Sue) Hayes, Myles (Angie) Hayes; beloved grandmother to Kennedy, Lily, Ryan, and Liam; dear sister to Theresa (Jerry) Cohen, Michael (Sue) Auer, and Sister Clara (Angel); she was a loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Anna began her nursing career at St. Mary's in Clayton, where her compassion and dedication quickly became evident to all who knew her. After welcoming her children, she continued her calling on the night shift, balancing her profession and family with remarkable strength and grace. Anna had a heart that knew no limit, she would truly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, always putting others before herself. Her deep love for helping people was not just part of her work, but a reflection of her faith, which guided her every day. Devoted to her family and her husband, Anna found her greatest joy in being present for those she loved, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A visitation will be held at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center on Wednesday, March 25th from 4pm - 8pm. A funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church the following day on Thursday, March 26th at 9am.
