GREENCASTLE-Betty Lou (Hutson) Everson, 89, of Greencastle, Indiana and formerly of
Rockville, Indiana passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Valyrian Place Assisted Living in Greencastle. She was a retired nursing assistant working for the Indiana State Hospital for Chest Disease (TB Sanitorium) in Rockville, and later the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville, Illinois retiring in October of 1996.
She was born October 31, 1936, in Bloomingdale, Indiana to the late Gerald Hutson (Deceased August 7, 1955) and Evelyn (Hann) Hutson (Deceased October 2, 1995). Her husband of 69 years, Clayton Franklin Everson whom she married May 9, 1954, in Bloomingdale preceded her in death November 23, 2023.
Survivors include Children: son, Larry (wife, Lisa) Everson of Rockville; daughter Nancy (husband, Rodney) Wehr of Ardmore, Tennessee; daughter, Cheryl (husband Keith) Rife of Bainbridge; son, Randy (wife Bev) Everson of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; sister in law Joan Hutson; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Hutson and Larry Hutson; grandchildren, Chad Lee and Randi Lynn Wallace and great granddaughter, Rayven Kincaid.
Betty was a member of the Rockville Christian Church and belonged to the NARFE organization in Danville, Illinois. Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed vacationing with them. When younger, she liked riding their Honda Gold Wing motorcycle with her husband Clayton. Additionally, she often spent time crocheting and doing crafts in her later years.
Services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 13, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville with Senior Minister Josh Captain and Jai Miranda officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is 12 noon until 2:00 pm Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
