Betty Fay Stevenson Forgay Sheid, 97 of Abilene, formerly of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away July 29, 2025 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene. Graveside services will be on Friday August 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas with Rev. Mike Harkrider officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 31, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00 pm at McCoy Funeral Home. Betty was born May 25, 1928, in Snyder, Texas to the late Frank P. and Grace Merkert Stevenson. Later the family moved to Sweetwater where she graduated from Sweetwater Newman High School in1945. She met and married Jack W. Forgay March 23, 1946 at a friend's house in Sweetwater, Texas. After 43 years of marriage, Jack passed away in 1989. On January 4, 2003, Betty married Billy F. Sheid in Arlington, Texas. They moved to Abilene, Texas in 2007 where she resided until her death. During her working life (besides taking care of her home and raising two children), Betty was employed by Hampton Architects for 5 years, Echols Tax Service (where she was office manager for 30 years), and Judy Davis Tax Service for 5 years. Betty was a longtime member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Sweetwater. She is currently a member of Wylie Baptist Church in Abilene. She is survived by her husband, Billy F. Sheid of Abilene, TX, her daughter, Melody Forgay Egger of Abilene, TX, her daughter-in-law, Patricia Forgay of Lubbock, TX, a step-son, Michael Sheid of Arlington, TX, three grandchildren, Marchelle Moore of Shallowater, Texas, Amy E. Yoder and husband Mike of Navarre, FL, Christina Forgay of Lubbock, TX, two step-grandchildren, Tanner Sheid and Matthew Sheid, ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Steve W. Forgay in 1979, her first husband Jack Forgay in 1989 and a sister, Vernelle Bishop. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mccoyfh.com.
