MANSFIELD: Betty Lou Fliger passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024, in her home surrounded by her family at the age of 81.
She was born on March 23, 1943, to parents Russell & Ada (Huff) Ison in Boyd County, Kentucky.
Betty married William L. Fliger Sr. on July 21, 1962, and the couple went on to celebrate 32 years together before his passing in December of 1994.
Betty was a homemaker, who cared greatly for her family and home. She loved to cook and was especially known for her pumpkin bread and dumplings. Betty had a great sense of humor and loved everyone she came in contact with, she was often referred to as grandma or mother by acquaintances because of how she made others feel.
In Betty's spare time, she enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds, going to fairs (especially the Loudonville Street Fair), and playing cards. Betty was loved immensely by her family and will be missed greatly.
She is survived by her children William (Lisa) Fliger of Shelby and Mildred Beasley of Mansfield; her grandchildren Willam Fliger III, Tara (Charles) Shaver, and Sheena (Josh) Thompson; her great-grandchildren Aleigha, Ashton, Cambri, Alexander and Madelynn; her sisters Carolyn Stamper of Mansfield and Clotine Baugess of Kentucky; nephew and nieces Jerry Fliger, Jackie Elia, and Jenny Brasseur; and may other nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Fliger; and her siblings Milton Ison, Hattie Ison-Wilbern, and Robert Ison.
Betty's family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral will occur at the funeral home on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11 a.m., and burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery.
