Betty Gewirtz Obituary
Betty was born June 26, 1927 in Chesaning to the late Harry and Flaude (Harrau) Nietling and was a resident of Chesaning most of her life. She was united in marriage to Bob Gewirtz on May 29, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2004. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She was always supportive of her husband, children, and grandchildren in their life choices. For many years, her husbands' Air Force career took Betty and the family to many places and because of her love of family, she turned each move into a home. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Surviving are: children: David (Diane) Gewirtz of Chesaning, Jane (Andy) Henige of Chesaning, Jennifer (Lenard) Kimball of Grayling; grandchildren: Stephanie (Gary) Ashby, Sarah Gewirtz, Jonathon (Lauren) Gewirtz, Zachary Henige, Melissa Henige, Annah Henige (fiancé Ross Warren), Linley Elton, Jay Elton, Bree Cooper and Olivia Cooper; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Geneva Nietling, Rose Mary Nietling and Barb Nietling; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Yvonne and Erwin Angst, Floyd Nietling, Arthur Neitling, Carol and Vern Mayhew, Janice and Bob Cody.
Betty's request was to be donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to any local organization. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.

Our condolences to Dave, Jennifer and Jane. We have good memories of your parents. Betty was a most gracious lady and the epitome of a class act in our mind. She will be missed.
