Betty Joan Kitchens Dunn, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away at the age of 81 on the 23rd of September, 2025, in Calhoun, Georgia. Born on February 2, 1944, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Frank Means Kitchens and Emmie Mae Kitchens.

Betty, affectionately known by those close to her heart, dedicated her life to pouring love into her family and community. The cherished matriarch of her family, Betty is survived by her three adoring children: Jackie Dunn (Tammie), Vicki Phillips, and Jeffrey Scott Dunn (Christina). Her legacy extends to her grandchildren: Bret Dunn (Kennedy) and their son Jack Manning; Dustin Dunn (Jenna) and their son Christian, as well as Jenna's two daughters; Brittany Hesterley (Sean) and their children Sailor, Sawyer, and Brody; Dane Phillips (Jaclyn); and Jeffrey and Christina’s children Matthew, Jasper, Madison, Joey, and Elexa Dunn. Her life was further enriched by her loving siblings Frankie Kitchens (Mary Lou), Carol Jolly, Lisa Langford, Shane Johnson, and Bobby Johnson; and loving sisters-in-law, Annette, Joyce, Shirley, Nancy.

Her husband, Jack Dunn, preceded her in death, and their love story remains a cherished chapter in her remarkable life. Betty and Jack's unwavering partnership and devotion were the bedrock of their family, providing a loving example for all who knew them.

Betty's life was characterized by her immeasurable kindness and unwavering compassion. She met every person with an open heart and often reached out with generous hands to those in need. Her children have the honor of calling her blessed, a living testament to her strength and love as reflected in the wisdom of Proverbs 31:28.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home 1215 Access Road Covington Ga 30014. A time of viewing and reflection will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Her final resting place will take place at Bethany Church Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.

Though she will be deeply missed, Betty's memory and legacy will continue to shine brightly through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Deeply loved and endlessly loving, Betty Joan Kitchens Dunn’s kindness, and warmth will remain in our hearts forever.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Dunn will be held Friday, September 26, 2025, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, McDonough. Freinds are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to her service, from 12 Noon - 2:00 P.M.
