Betty J. Johnson

Age 88, of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at SSM Monroe Hospice Home. Betty was born on August 25, 1937 in Cuba City, the daughter of Clinton E. and Alice M. (Stoeffler) Watters. She graduated from Platteville High School and was united in marriage to Ernest M. Johnson on September 3, 1955. Betty was employed at Monroe Medical Center, Crandall Inc, and Green County Courthouse until retiring. She was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society. Betty enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, genealogy, and doing word searches.

She is survived by three children, Michael "Mike" (Judy) Johnson, Ronald "Ron" (Daneen) Johnson, all of Albany, Ruth (Justin) Altmann of Monroe; ten grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; a great-greatgranddaughter; a sister, Mary Bresee; and a sister-in-law, Pat Watters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest, on December 1, 2019; and four brothers, Pete, Melvin, Bobby, and Jim.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Father Garrett Kau as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. The NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, is assisting the family.
