Ms. Betty McKay Kidd

Betty McKay Kidd, 76, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Born on January 27, 1949, in Madison, FL, she was the daughter of the late Walter McKay and Willie V. Lewis Daniel. Ms. Kidd received her bachelor's degree from Winthrop University and later earned her Master of Education from The University of South Carolina. She retired in 2009 from Richland School District One following 38 dedicated years as a teacher and curriculum coordinator. Ms. Kidd enjoyed being outdoors, especially when she had the opportunity to go hiking or bird watching. She had a love for all animals and had adopted many pets throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughter, Christina R. Kidd of Columbia; sister, Mary M. Edsen (LTC Jerry Edsen, USAF (Ret.)), nieces, Connie Bagnal-Gibbons of Turbeville, SC and Michelle Edsen Moore of Carmel, IN; nephews, Billy Bagnal of Clarksville, TN, Clifford Bagnal of Manning, SC, and David Edsen of Redondo Beach, CA; great nieces, Lily and Violet Edsen of Redondo Beach, CA, Claire Moore of Carmel, IN, Ashley Jacobus of Turbeville, SC, and Sarah Timmons of Kingstree, SC; great nephews, Benjamin Moore of Carmel IN, J.C. and Troy Bagnal of Manning, SC; as well as a multitude of other extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rosa L. Bagnal.
The graveside service for Ms. Kidd will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, November 1st at Greenhaven Preserve, 1701 Vanboklen Road, Eastover, SC 29044.
