Betty Jane (Detlefsen) Livermore, age 99, of Hudson, WI, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at Cambridge Senior Living in Hudson.
Betty was born on July 17, 1926, in Rock Island, Illinois, to Raymond and Anna (Anderson) Detlefsen. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1944 and married the love of her life, Jack S. Livermore, on November 9, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Hudson. Together, they built a loving home and raised their family in North Hudson.
A dedicated homemaker, Betty also sold Avon around North Hudson—famously riding her bicycle on her routes. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and crocheting, and later worked for the St. Croix County Court Clerk’s office, where she served for 25 years.
When Betty retired at age 65, her family gifted her driving lessons, golf lessons, and golf clubs. She quickly fell in love with both hobbies—driving (as long as she could make right turns to get where she needed to go) and golfing at the Hudson Golf Course, which she enjoyed for the next 20 years.
Betty cherished meals out with family and friends, especially trips to Culver’s and Agave 2 GoGo, as well as gatherings at the Hudson Senior Center. Her go-to order was always a cheeseburger, French fries, and a Diet Coke—always finished with ice cream, which she absolutely loved.
Faith was an important part of Betty’s life. She was a devoted member of Hudson First Baptist Church and, after retiring, volunteered for more than 20 years at the Alcove Gift Shop at Hudson Hospital, where she loved helping staff and families find the perfect gift.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Anna Detlefsen; her husband, Jack Livermore; her son, Mike Livermore; her sisters Dorothy (Howard) Olson and Wanda (Bob) Heffron; and her brother, Richard Detlefsen.
She is survived by her daughters Pat (Tom) Sherley and Barb (Arden McMartin) Hess; daughter-in-law, Sandy Livermore; grandchildren Ryan (Jenny) Sherley, BT (Karlee Jane) Livermore, and Jacqueline (James) Scullard; great-grandchildren Aiden and Kellan Sherley, Oliver Scullard, Otto Livermore, Hunter Crismore, and Kennett Shank; sister, Ruth Poss; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and her special friends from Hanley Place Apartments.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cambridge Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care and the kindness they shared with Betty.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at O’Connell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:30–11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. and graveside services at 12:00 p.m.
