Betty Sue (Gillihan) Mayo of Goodlettsville, TN passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the age of 86. She was born on April 14, 1938 in Nashville, TN where she grew up. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Annie (Talbot) Gillihan; and sisters, Ann Miller and Patricia Kemper. Betty is survived by her husband, Dorris Wayne Mayo; son, Greg Mayo (Susan); and grandchildren, Carter Mayo and Griffin Mayo.
Betty graduated from East Nashville High School in 1956. She worked as Real Estate Agent for most of her career up until she was 81 years old. Betty and Dorris were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville. Betty enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with family at the holidays and time with her grandchildren.
Memorial Gathering will be held for Betty on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Betty’s honor to the National Audubon Society.
