Betty Jean Miller, age 80, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 31, 1945, to Edward and Ruby Green.

Betty grew up in Portsmouth, Ohio, later making her home in Pataskala and Lancaster, where she spent most of her adult life. She was known for her nurturing spirit, gentle nature, and quiet strength—qualities that shaped every life she touched. She was a devoted mother, Mema, sister, and friend, and her life was defined by kindness, patience, and deep love for her family.

A lover of life's simple pleasures, Betty found joy in reading, collecting turtle figurines, and her passion for Betty Boop. She cherished popcorn nights, bed-and-breakfast trips with her sisters and niece, and the special moments spent with her children. Above all, her greatest joy came from being “Mema.” She treasured every moment with her grandchildren, creating memories filled with sleepovers, shared stories, and laughter, reading books together, and celebrating holidays with them. These celebrations included decorating Easter eggs, welcoming Christmas, watching fireworks on the Fourth of July, and delighting in the fun of trick-or-treating. Among her favorite memories were hosting tea parties with her grandchildren, where her home was filled with laughter and imagination.

Betty's faith served as an important foundation in her life. She raised her children at Tri Village Church of Christ and later became a member of Fairfield Christian Church, where she embodied her Christian values with grace and humility.

As an ardent fan of Elvis Presley, Betty enjoyed his music and passed on this love to her family. Her culinary skills were celebrated, particularly her renowned baked beans, a favorite dish at family gatherings, fondly remembered by all who experienced their deliciousness.

She is survived by her son, Matthew (Lisa) Miller; and her daughter, BJ Miller (Joe Wellman). Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren—Jordin Miller, Danielle Baxter, Brandon Miller, and Raylin Suain—as well as her four great-grandchildren: Eli, Finley, Riley, and Saylor.

Betty is also survived by her siblings: Kenneth Green, Luke Green, and Ginny Copley, along with many nieces and nephews, each of whom held her dear to their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her sister Patsy Whitt, her sister-in-law Joyce Green, and her beloved parents, Edward and Ruby Green.

A celebration of life for Betty will be held on December 27th at 11:00 AM at 604 W 5th Ave, Lancaster, Ohio, at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Ohio. Friends and family are invited to bring their favorite memories of Betty to share in her honor. For any questions, please contact BJ.

Betty’s gentle spirit, warm love, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
