Betty Sue Murdock, age 82 of Hendersonville, passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2024. Betty was born on February 14, 1942 in Trenton, Kentucky to the late Paul Clair Sisk and the late Estelle Robertson Sisk. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Murdock, Sr.; her sisters, Eleanor Brown (Jim) and Gayle Willis; and her brother, Robert Sisk. 

Betty is survived by her children, Denton Keith Murdock (Jill), Donald Ray Murdock, Jr. (Cindy), and Renee Murdock Purcell (Steven); her sister, Vivian Moore and brother-in-law, Benny Willis; grandchildren, Mary Ann Abney (Michael), Molly Murdock, Madison Barker (Alex), Andrew Murdock, Abby Murdock, Josh Murdock (Hailey), Ally Murdock, Jack Murdock, Camden Purcell, Maya Purcell, and Laine Purcell; great-grandchildren, Roman Abney, Declan Murdock, Adler Murdock, Emeric Murdock, Elowen Murdock, Amos Barker, and Ansel Barker. 

Born and raised in Trenton, Kentucky, Betty was a graduate of Guthrie High School and Volunteer State Community College. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, during her membership at First Baptist, she was very involved in the Todd/Shipley/Boatright Connect Group, Tuesday Ladies Prayer Group, Prayer Room Ministry, Cheermakers Craft Group, Pastor’s Wednesday Bible Study, 55+ Adults Fellowship and Gatherings, Sunday Worship, Back Pack Ministry, Meals on Wheels, Prayer Warriors, Preschool Ministry and Thursday Morning Exercise Class.

Betty was also a part of the Red Hats Group, she was a Prayer Warrior praying weekly with her friend, Liz Phillips. She had many friends in her life that all had their own special place in her life. She loved us all very well! “My life was difficult at times, but the Lord led me through every trial”, Betty lived by this and it was evident by her daily walk with the Lord. 

Funeral Services honoring Betty will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel at First Baptist Church Hendersonville with Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.
