Betty Jo (Craig) Neer, 90, died peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023. A longtime Dublin, Ohio resident, Betty was born in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and grew up in Springfield, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Vern and Cleta Craig and was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Verle Neer, as well as her brothers, Charles and Larry Craig.
Betty worked for many years for Woolworth stores where she went around the country setting up new stores by training personnel and running their grand openings. Once married, they started their family and several years later, she and her husband Verle started two family businesses, Capital City Food Brokers and V&B Distributing, where she served as vice-president and office manager for over 25 years. She was blessed to be surrounded by a loving family, remaining loved ones are: her daughters, Betty (Frank) Sugar and Debbie Pond; step-daughters who she cherished, Verleen (Calvin) Massey, and Helen (John) Abjanic; 6 grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Hiro, Megan (Tim) Miller, Chris Pond, Grant Sugar, Katie Pond, and Evan Sugar; and 5 great grandchildren, Jack & Lily Hiro, Mazey, Mia, & Delaney Miller; along with several nieces and nephews and her special extended church family, friends, and neighbors. Betty enjoyed traveling and spent countless days on family road trips to almost every corner of the United States. In the last several years, she enjoyed going on annual girls trips with her daughters and granddaughter and always enjoyed being surprised by the destination they chose for her.
She adored the friends she made at church and was always excited to join them for their monthly "peeps" breakfast and steak fry at the Hilliard VFW. She also loved lending a helping hand working at the bi-annual Dublin Community Church Rummage Sale where she was always in charge of the seasonal item section. She looked forward to spending the week with her rummage friends - catching up and sharing stories as they were sorting donated items. Betty was also a member of the kitchen committee helping to make, serve, and clean up church meals. She held deep affection for her fellow committee members, cherishing their friendship, and relishing the time they spent together.
When Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery, she learned of a need for small comfort pillows. Since that time, she made it her mission to help support other cancer patients and with the help of her friends, she made thousands of pillows every year to donate to doctor's offices in the Columbus area. The family wishes to send a special thank you for her extraordinary care to Drs. Tom Sweeney and Tom Anderson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Dublin Community Church Youth Group. We will miss her, her sense of humor, and her beautiful, loving heart, forever.
Visitation will be Friday, January 12th, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, Ohio, 43065. A funeral service will be held Saturday January 13th, 2024 at 11 AM at Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge Street, Dublin, OH 43017, with burial at Dublin Cemetery immediately after.

My sympathies to Betty's family. I miss my church family by moving to Idaho. She was one of the sweet people I loved to catch on Sunday morning. She was a blessing and a helping angel. Fond memories and prayers are with you. Patsy Karn and family
