Betty Newman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Dec. 23, 2025.
Betty Jo Newman, a cornerstone of the Bartlesville community and a woman of profound faith, passed away at the age of 87. A resident of Bartlesville for 71 years, Betty Jo's life was defined by her devotion to her family, her business, and her Lord.

Betty Jo was born on February 20, 1938, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Lee and Celia(Ford) Garber. After moving to Bartlesville, she attended school for cosmetology, a skill she would use to serve the community for decades.

On July 20, 1954, she married the love of her life, Larry D. Newman. Together, they owned and operated Hair 7 in Bartlesville for an incredible 67 years. While she was a dedicated business owner, Betty Jo also took great pride in being a stay-at-home mother, ensuring her home was a place of love and warmth for her family.

A true servant of God, Betty Jo's faith was the center of her life. She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher at both Baptist Temple and Highland Park Baptist Church in Bartlesville. She found great peace and strength in reading her Bible and spent many hours listening to the sermons of Billy Graham. Her family was her greatest hobby and her greatest joy.

Betty Jo was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry D. Newman; her parents, Lee Garber and Celia Garber; her brothers, Sam, Jim, and Robert Garber; her sisters, Thelma Marsh, Carol Turley, Patsy Shelton, and Sylvia McVey.

She is survived by her three children: Tony D. Newman, Trina L. Evans, and Tammy J. Newman.

Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Jeana Newman, Brandi Newman, Cameron Corolewski, Cascia Stockton, Kollin Evans, and Kelsey Evans.

She was also a proud great-grandmother to Kaitlyn Hines, Annelise Creel, Jason Creel Jr., Trinity Wilson, Jaxton Trusler, Aniston Trusler, Holland Evans, Hayes Evans, and Caleb Stockton.

Betty Jo leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and unconditional love that will be carried on by her family and the many lives she touched through her ministry and her business.
