Betty Whitehead Parham, age 88, entered into Heaven on October 31, 2025. Born on September 23, 1937, in Farmington, Georgia, Betty was the beloved daughter of Nellie Thompson Whitehead and William Foster Whitehead Sr. She was a cherished resident of Blairsville, Georgia, since 1997, where she shared her warm spirit and love with all who knew her.
Betty was married to her devoted husband, Herbert Parham, for an incredible 61 years. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and love, one that resonated with the affection she had for her family and her beloved cats. She received an associate's degree from Truett McConnell College and worked for many years as an administrative assistant at Southern Mill and Supply in Athens, Georgia. Betty was known for her unwavering support of her family, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand.
A proud member of Pleasant Grove Church in Blairsville, she found joy in singing in the choir and sharing her musical talents at both Pleasant Grove and her former church, Freeman's Creek Baptist in Farmington. Betty found peace in gardening, nurturing her flowers with the same care she extended to her loved ones. Known for always looking her best, she embodied grace and elegance throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Foster Whitehead Sr. and Nellie Thompson Whitehead; brothers, Jack Whitehead and Bill Whitehead; and nieces, Sandra Faye Whitehead and Myra Nell Dickens; sister-in-laws, Edith Whitehead and Helen Whitehead.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert H. Parham; brother, Gene Whitehead; nephew Charles Byron Whitehead Sr. (Barbara); (Charles's children Charles Jr. and Adam); sister-in-law Evelyn Parham Deyton;(Evelyn's children) Melanie Carballo (Mario); (Melanie's children Keisha Zellers (James) and Carrie Dyer); and Ryan Deyton (Kayla); (Ryan's children Grayson, Destiny, Carson, and Mason); her niece Linda Gibby Olliff Ristuccia (Don), (Linda's children) Jennifer Olliff, Jason Olliff, and Amanda Olliff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home of Blairsville on Friday, November 7th at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Brian Clayton officiating.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Kenny Dyer, Russ Carver, Larry Landrum, Wayne Roberts, Charles Brackett, and Jason Olliff.
