Betty Parker Obituary

Betty was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. She had a very kind and humble spirit. These quality traits showed in the way that she cared, loved, and nurtured to those around her, this was most especially true in the relationship and special bond that she shared with her one and only child, her daughter Amy Lynne. Besides having a unique bond, these two were fiercely devoted and loyal to each other.
Betty worked for Abbott Laboratories in Rocky Mount for over 35 years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Harold to the beach and to the mountains of TN to visit family. Betty was also an excellent southern cook. Some of her best dishes included cabbage, cornbread, potato salad, banana pudding, and her homemade spaghetti sauce. Additionally, Betty loved Karaoke. This new talent and hobby allowed for her to make many new friends in her golden years.
Most recently, Betty had faced quite a few health challenges. She will forever be remembered for the determination and grace that she so bravely showed during these times. She fought hard to remain independent and to get well. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is finally healed and at home with her Lord and Savior.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Amy Lynne Parker; brothers, Mike Jones and wife Judy, Bennie "BG" Jones, Richard Jones and wife Ella Rae; sister-in-laws, Doris Faye Gose, Betty Jean Pearson and husband Bennie, and Lillie Parker; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family; her grand-fur baby Sadie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Parker of 51 years; parents, Frank and Bettie-Ruth Jones; brother, William Frank Jones III, "Frankie"; mother and father-in-law, Onslow B. and Annie-Mae Parker; brother-in-laws, Roger Parker and Bobby Parker; sister-in-laws, Lucretia Parker and Kathy Jones; nephew, Allen Parker; niece, Rhonda Duff.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bill Donovan officiating at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
