Betty Ellen Patrick

Betty Ellen Smiley Patrick, age 89, of Cynthiana, made her way to heaven Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at her home. She was born March 16, 1933, in Nicholas County to the late Clarence and Elsie Fryman Smiley. Betty is preceded in death by her late husband of 59 years, Eugene Patrick; her son, Mark Patrick; two sisters, Carolyn Young, and Wilma Bodker; four brothers, Garnett Smiley, Wendell Smiley, Lowell Smiley, and Gerald "Chuck" Smiley.
Betty and Eugene lived on their family farm, Curry Run Farm, for 63 years. They raised their family at Upper Curry United Methodist Church. They later became members of Cynthiana First Church of God.
Betty was in the first graduating class of Harrison County High School. She worked at Northside Elementary, then became an Ombudsman for the Agency of the Bluegrass from December 1989 until September 2014. This work was very important to her.
Betty's love for her Lord and Savior never wavered throughout her life. She loved her family and friends with that same unconditional love. Betty also had a love for costume jewelry that she inherited from her mother.
She is survived by three daughters, Pam (Butch) Pierce of North Carolina, Dian (Mike) Osbourne of Lexington, and Sandy (Larry) Singleton of Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Kathi Patrick; three sisters, Joyce Linville, Norma Brown, and Linda Wiglesworth; two brothers, Kenneth "Kenny" Smiley, and Keith Smiley; six grandchildren, Katy (Robert) Willis, Rachel Hawkins, Courtney (Rob) MacKercher, Elizabeth Osbourne, Chris (Mandy) Denniston, and Jake (Lauren) Denniston; seven great-grandchildren, Beckett and Emma Willis, Robby MacKercher, Madelynn, Logan, Ava and Cora Denniston. A special thank you for your loving care to Teresa Wethington, Lori, Glenda, and Maxine.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Ware Funeral Home with visitation being held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Officiating the services will be Brother Jeffery Jackson. Burial will be at Battle Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Butch Pierce, Mike Osbourne, Larry Singleton, Robert Willis, Rob MacKercher, Chris Denniston, Jake Denniston, and Logan Denniston.
