Betty Phillips, born on April 28, 1940, and a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center. Her passing marks the end of a remarkable life filled with love, resilience, and dedication to her family.
As a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty is survived by her son, Barry Phillips; her daughter, Melissa (Jessie) Childress; her grandsons, Jacob (Ariana) Childress, Lucas (Emma) Phillips, and Levi Phillips; her granddaughter, Jasmine Francisco; and her great-grandson, Theodore Childress. Each of them will carry forward her legacy of compassion and strength.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, Franklin Phillips. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Eston Thompson and Tishie Belcher-Thompson, and her brothers, Bobby, Bill, and Benny Thompson. The absence of those she loved dearly has left a void in the lives of her surviving family members, who will remember her fondly for her warmth and unwavering support.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US Highway 23 S in Pikeville, KY, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Friday, October 24, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM, with burial at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Betty Phillips will be remembered not only for her deep love for her family but also for the positive impact she had on those around her. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched.
