Betty Jean Sellars, 87, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on November 17, 2025, at her residence in Tifton, Georgia. Born on August 18, 1938, in Tift County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late W. L. Hollis and Jessie L. Stone Hollis. Betty was affectionately known by many as a dedicated homemaker who poured her heart into her family and home along with working twenty-five plus years at J. P. Stevens.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Tift Memorial Gardens with Rev. Wallace Barber, Jr. officiating. No public visitation will be held.
Throughout her life, Betty found joy in simple pleasures. She loved working in her yards, where her nurturing spirit often flourished among the flowers and plants. Cooking was another passion of hers, and she delighted in sharing her culinary creations with her loved ones. An avid reader, she enjoyed the worlds that books opened up to her. Most importantly, Betty treasured the moments spent with her family, and her love for them was a defining aspect of her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Sellars, whom she devotedly married for sixty-five years until his passing on August 4, 2020. She also mourned the loss of her sister, Joyce McPherson, and held dear the memory of her parents.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Porter and David Sellars. Her grandchildren, Christy and Chris Baker and Davie Sellars, along with her great-grandchildren, Hunter Baker, Kassidy Sellars, Addison Baker, and Levi Sellars. Betty is also survived by her brother, Donald Hollis, and her sister, Josie Kerce.
