Betty Jean (Tagg) Sheets, age 95 of Delaware passed away peacefully early Saturday morning January 31, 2026, at Kingston Residence in Marion. Born in Delaware, Ohio on July 23, 1930, to the late Walter Tagg, Sr. and Madge Miller Tagg.
She graduated from Willis High School in Delaware in the Class of 1949. Betty married Charles Sheets in 1951 and they shared 67 years. They were not only partners in life, but also in the operations on their family farm and raising their family. She helped greatly on the farm, driving tractors, hauling grain, running errands, preparing meals for the workers and taking food to the field. In 2017, she and Charles were inducted into the Agriculture Hall of Fame for Delaware County for their outstanding contribution to the agriculture industry.
Betty was a member of Farm Bureau. She was selected Farm Bureau Woman of the Year in2001. She supported Farm Bureau Women's Committees, Farm Bureau Fun Tent at the Delaware County Fair, Ag Day Breakfasts, Ag in the Classroom and helping with Food Check Out Day. Betty served on the Farm Bureau Board of Trustees and many membership campaigns. She was a member of the Kilbourne Grange until it closed about 1970.
Always wanting to help others, Betty helped many times with People in Need. She was a Lifetime member of the Delaware Historical Society, member of the Delaware Genealogical Society, 55-year member of the Ashley Progressive Mother's Club, also served in several offices. She and Charles were Grand Marshal of the Kilbourne Day Parade in 2011. She was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church.
Betty had a love for the outdoors and took pride in her flowers. She loved to cook and bake. Her specialty was making pies and her warm home-made chocolate chip cookies.
Betty and Charles provided a generous donation through the Delaware County Foundation for the building of the Brown Township Hall in Kilbourne which was dedicated in their namesake in 2017.
Betty is survived by daughter Margie D. (Fredrick) Saull; grandchildren, Bradley (Christina) Saull, Brian (Christina) Saull and Katie; great granddaughter, Charlotte Saull; extended family and a host of friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2019, son Marvin in 1991, grandson Benjamin, a sister and brother.
Betty's family would like to thank Kingston Residence of Marion for the excellent care for Betty in the last 6-½ years. Also, a special thank you to Tranquility Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion for Betty during her final days.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Snyder Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William St., Delaware from 11 a.m. — 1 p.m. followed by the service at 1 p.m. A meal will follow the service in the Snyder Funeral Center Community Room. Burial will be in Marlborough Cemetery.

Betty and Chuck were the perfect example of the people who make a community strong. When I would happen to see Betty, she be would always greet me as though I was the person she was hoping to run into that day. She made people feel welcome.

Betty always had a smile and time to visit whenever she passed our house or was outside. She and Chuck were wonderful neighbors and she, like Chuck, will be missed. May God bless here family.
