Betty Farr Shumer Betty Farr Shumer, age 84 of Maryville, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a 1957 graduate of Everett High School and went on to graduate from the Blount Memorial LPN Program. Betty was a long-time member of Oakstreet Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, family, friends, Tennessee Vols, camping and beach trips, and lived life to the fullest. She was a loving, devoted and fun wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband, Homer Shumer; parents, Bill and Lenora Farr; siblings, Barbara, Linda, and Mickey Farr. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Doug Overly, Kathy and Steve Biggar, Terri and Jeff Caylor, Beth and Stevie Anderson; grandchildren, Brandi and Rob Smith, Chad and Mallory Sunderland, Brett and Cynthia Biggar, Cody and Anna Sunderland, Paige and Kevin Roe, Hunter Anderson; great-grandchildren, Titus, Tinsley, Taylee, Lincoln, Lawson, Marley, Maya, Ruby, Nora, Lennox, Winnie; brothers and sisters, Bill Farr, Brenda and Roger Lewis, Rita Franklin; special friend, Rick Lowe; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Oak Street Baptist Church Operation Christmas Child, 218 Oakdale St, Maryville, TN 37801. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Smith Trinity Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 with Rev. Jimmy Webb and Rev. Keith Ross officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 PM for Interment Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
