Betty Jane Smith, 82, of New Castle went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at her residence. She was born April 2, 1943 in Indiana, Pennsylvania to Jesse and Sabina Sara (Snider) Ruffner.
A long-time resident of New Castle, Betty worked many jobs throughout her lifetime including Pizza King, was a taxi driver, Bills Diner, Henry County Memorial Hospital, Red Barn and most recently at Walmart. During her time working at Walmart, she always enjoyed meeting people and spending time with her coworkers. A long-time member of the First Assembly of God, Betty loved the Lord with all her heart. In her later years, she enjoyed bird watching and wintering in Florida with her husband Mike. Betty's greatest joy was being able to read her Bible, her German Shepherd, Appollo and spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Betty's memory are her children, Eldon (Sandra) Quesinberry, Jr., Elizabeth Bratton, Tammy (Leo Feltner) and Tilmand Edwards; 5 grandchildren, Dawn, Katlin, Joanna, Joseph and Tiffanie; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband Michael Smith and siblings, Barb, Claudia and Buck.
Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition in New Castle. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Assembly of God, 3600 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, IN 47362. You may express condolences or share a memory of Betty at www.hinsey-brown.com.

New Castle First Assembly loved Betty. She was always so pleasant and faithful. She would attend church on her lunch break so she didn´t have to miss church. That is a faithful servant that will be dearly missed. Blessings and comfort to her dear family!
