Betty Snyder Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 4, 2025.
Betty Jester Snyder, of Sophia, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, November 3, 2025, following a short stay at the Randolph Hospice House, where the staff there offered her comfort and care. Betty was 85 years old. She was the youngest of six children born to the late VA and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Jester. She grew up in Trinity and graduated from Trinity High School.

She met the love of her life on a date with a friend and later married Wayne Snyder of Sophia. She moved from Trinity to the Snyder home place and made a home and family there. She worked side by side with her husband on a farm for 13 years before making the decision to open Snyder Farms Restaurant and Catering in 1984. Betty did not know a stranger and was the "social butterfly of the business." It made her most happy to make you feel at home, offering warmth and hospitality, there for over 40 years. She fed folks who came from near and far, both food and fellowship, hopping from table to table to meet and greet her customers. Following the death of her husband, Wayne, in December 2018, she continued to run the business, with her son, David, before selling the business and officially retiring in 2024. She missed the social aspects of the Restaurant, but continued to go out to eat with her friends, who worked side by side with her at the Restaurant. She was a huge advocate of her community supporting many churches, civic and community organizations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Snyder, her parents, VA and Elizabeth Jester, her sisters, Bertha Russell and Bernice Cockerham, and her brothers, Dallas Jester and Albert Jester.

She is survived by her daughter, Annette Caughron and her husband, David, of Level Cross, her son, David Snyder, of Sophia and brother, Fred Jester, of Asheboro. She has numerous nieces and nephews. She also has extended family members who grew up in the Restaurant, which she called her own. They call her Grandma to this day.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her favorite charities, the Randolph Hospice House, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203, and the Victory Junction Camp, 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC 27317.

The family will receive friends at a floating visitation "Celebration of Life" at Mount Lebanon UMC, 119 West River Drive, Randleman, NC 27317. The Celebration will take place in the Church Fellowship Hall from 2-4 Saturday, November 8th, 2025.
