Betty Sue Sparks
Betty Hyman Sparks peacefully went to her eternal resting place and reunited with her husband, Thursday, January 9, 2025, in
Tomball, TX at the age of 91.
Betty was born in Richards, Texas on February 16, 1933, to Vick and Susie Hyman. In later years they moved to Magnolia, Texas where she graduated from Magnolia High School. She later married the son of her parents' neighbors, Kennth R. Sparks, and together they raised three sons and resided in
Tomball, Texas where they also owned and managed an Exxon service station.
Kenneth Sparks was the love of Betty's life, and they were married almost 29 years until his death in 1983. Betty was still very young when he passed away, but she stayed true to his love and never had any other personal relationship with another. She closed the service station and then started working at a liquor store in Tomball for several years where she was loved by many regular customers. She then decided to stay at home to take care of a few grandchildren and later worked at a neighboring day care for a few years.
Betty was a mother first and foremost and her family always came first. Being the mother of three boys gave her a great sense of humor. She was very close to her sister, Gertrude and husband, Lonnie who always resided close by. Betty and Gertrude spoke to each other every day, and they enjoyed each other's company and raising their families together.
Betty was a devout Catholic and attended St. Anne's in Tomball, and she very rarely ever missed mass. She enjoyed talking on the phone, hosting family get-togethers, growing flowers, crocheting, and being a grandmother to her grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth R. Sparks; parents, Vick and Susie Hyman, sister Gertrude and brother-in-law Lonnie Hardamon, nephew Lonnie Jr. and wife Karla Hardamon.
She is survived by her son, Rickey and wife Kris Sparks, granddaughter Tara and husband Alex Mykyte, grandson Austin and wife Joy Sparks, grandson Aaron and wife Jordan Sparks, son Terry and wife Kim Sparks, granddaughter Mandy and husband Dan Hoffman, granddaughter Megan Gabriel, granddaughter Missy and husband Matt Bjorggard, grandson Terry Ray and wife Keri Sparks, son Kevin and wife Karla Sparks, grandson Dillon Bradford, grandson Dalton Sparks, grandson Devin Sparks, and 16 great grandchildren.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
