Betty Carol (Burnette) Stratton, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Nicholasville, Kentucky, following a brief illness. She was born April 29, 1943, in Pikeville, Kentucky. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was loved by many for her kind and gentle spirit.
Betty was a long-time member of Jessamine Christian Church in Nicholasville and Zebulon Church of Christ in Pikeville. She was also employed for several years by South Central Bell in Pikeville. She had many dear friends in both of her church families and during her time with the phone company, as well as many life-long friends from the Pikeville community.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elva Lee and Carrie and Ernest Burnette; her brother, Larry Blackburn; and her son-in-law, Steve Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Howard Stratton; and their four daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Sesco, Rhonda (Rick) Melton, Donna (Chris) Lee, and Melita (Leon) Smith. Betty is also survived by five grandchildren, Carrie (Todd) Wilson, Benjamin Melton, Jacob Lee, Anna Lee, and Jared Smith; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Bowman Wilson. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Harold (Darlene) Blackburn of Pataskala, Ohio; her brothers-in-law, Paul David Stratton and Steve Stratton; several beloved nieces and nephews; and many cousins that she loved so dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at Betts & West Funeral Home in Nicholasville, with Phil Richardson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the funeral. She will be buried in the Burnette Family Cemetery in Pikeville, Kentucky. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, April 22.
Betty loved her family and extended family greatly. She will be forever missed and always cherished for the love she showed to those around her.
