Betty Suggitt Obituary

Betty J. Suggitt

March 5, 1926 - October 13, 2025

Betty J. Suggitt passed away just the way she wanted, on her terms, at home October 13th, 2025, after 99 ½ amazing years.

Betty, known to many as Granny, was born March 5th, 1926, in Jackson, MI to parents Fred and Kate Shuberg. She attended Michigan Center High School, graduating in 1944.

In March of 1950 she married James Suggitt. They had two children, Patricia and Fred. They traveled and moved many places which brought them to Eau Claire in 1966. Even though they later divorced, Eau Claire became where Granny called home. She worked for National Presto and would later work for Luther Hospital in the Central Stores until her retirement.

Granny was a kind and gentle soul. She found happiness in her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and the grand dogs too. Granny was an avid sports fan. Many days she enjoyed cheering on her favorite Wisconsin and Michigan teams, as well as watching any other sporting event on TV. She was often found in the bleachers of Regis High School, Hobbs ice arena, and many other fields and arenas cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; rarely missing a game. Granny spent much of her time doing word searches, reading a good book and putting together puzzles. She loved her time around the kitchen table with all of her family, usually kicking their butts in cards. Granny and Pat had many road trip adventures, making sure not to miss stopping at a casino along the way. Her family was her life, as she was theirs, and she will be profoundly missed.

Granny is survived by her daughter Pat Candell, son Fred Suggitt, as well as grandchildren Jill (Peter) Hoeft, Kari (Matt) Fowler, Bill (Jacki) Candell, great-grandchildren Andrew & Benjamin Hoeft, William & Zachary Candell, Aubrey & Michael Fowler, her sister Roseanne (Jack) Sheehan, and sister-in-law Arlene Suggitt.

She was proceeded in death by her great-granddaughter Gracie Ann, her parents, brothers Walt and Carl, and sisters Katherine and Louise.

Granny's family would like to give a special thank you to all her caregivers and wonderful neighbors. She greatly enjoyed you and your help was immeasurable.

Please join us for a casual celebration of life on Thursday, October 16th from 4:00 to 6:00pm at Stokes, Prock, Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona, WI.
